A resident of Cary, NC, Matthew Ryan leads Traffic & Mobility Consultants LLC (TMC) as CEO and board member from the firm's Orlando, Florida headquarters. TMC focuses on traffic engineering, roadway design, and transportation planning. Matthew Ryan’s previous role in Raleigh, brought him closer to his home in Cary, NC.

In Raleigh, he served as president, CEO, and board chair for S&ME Inc. He led operations across transportation, energy, and a host of diversified services including healthcare, education, industrial, education, industrial, and manufacturing sectors, as well as directed civil, geotechnical, environmental, and construction services. Mr. Ryan's achievements include converting S&ME Inc. to a 100-percent ESOP, S Corporation, and growing its sales to nearly $240M.

Before S&ME Inc., Mr. Ryan served HDR for nearly 18 years across multiple positions. He started as senior VP and area manager for the southeast territory, covering North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia. He then relocated to the Greater Tampa Bay Area to manage Florida, Alabama, and Mississippi operations. Later, Mr. Ryan advanced to senior VP and director of operations for the Northeast Region (11 states, 2,000 FTEs), then rose to executive VP and director of professional services on HDR's Executive Leadership Team. Between stints at HDR, he also worked at Industrial Piping Inc. as senior VP and chief growth officer.

Early in his career, he worked as a manager for Infrastructure Management Group Inc. in Maryland. Matthew Ryan's public service career includes two separate periods as senior policy director at the U.S. House of Representatives and a role as senior manager in the United States Government Accountability Office.
